Deloitte interview: case studies and fit
· 7 min read
At Deloitte, as in consulting generally, the interview often rests on two pillars: the case interview and the behavioral (fit) assessment. They test your structured reasoning as much as your motivation and your demeanor.
Depending on the role (consulting, audit, tech, HR…), the share of “cases” varies, but the core logic remains: structure, communicate, be client-oriented.
The case study
You are given a business problem (“this client is losing market share, what do you recommend?”). They do not expect THE right answer, but an approach: restate the problem, structure it with a clear framework, state assumptions, reason out loud, and conclude with a recommendation.
The fit interview
- “Why consulting, and why Deloitte?”
- “A time you led a team or an initiative.”
- “A failure and what you learned from it.”
- “How do you handle several priorities and deadlines?”
Show client orientation
Consulting is about solving a client’s problem. In your examples as in the cases, show that you think “impact for the client”: understand the real need, propose concrete solutions, communicate clearly.
